Connect With Your Teens | Conversation Starters, Parenting Tips, Screen Time, Build Connection, Communication Skills

*****TOP 2.0% GLOBAL PODCAST*****

The go-to podcast for Christian moms who want deeper connection with their teens.

Are you tired of feeling dismissed every time your teen pulls out their phone mid-conversation?
Do conversations with your teen feel more like nagging sessions than real connection?
Is your teen shut down, distracted, or glued to a screen… while you’re desperate to build trust and keep your relationship strong?

I’m so excited you’re here!

This podcast will help you move from walking on eggshells to having real, trust-building conversations—without the nagging, misunderstandings or push-back.

My mission is to equip you to communicate with tools that replace frustration with understanding, turn tension into trust, and help you become the mom your teen feels safe opening up to.

Hi, I’m Terri Lee. A wife, mom, tutu, and communication coach. For years, I thought the key to raising my kids well was teaching the right lessons, taking them to church, and trying to fix their behavior. But instead of building connections it only led to frustration, distance, and feeling like my words didn’t matter.

I realized that to have deep, lasting connections—both now and after my kids left home—I needed to change how I communicated. So, I did. I learned to listen without criticism, speak in a way my kids felt safe, and build thriving relationships. Now, I help moms do the same, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

If you’re looking for practical ways to talk to your teen, build a relationship based on mutual respect, and get them off their phones long enough to connect—this show is for you.

Grab your latte and let’s dive into it.

In this episode, Terri shares a powerful mindset shift that can change the way you approach parenting teens and help you build connection, build trust, and communicate more effectively with your teen.

Do you ever feel physically present with your teen… but mentally somewhere else?
Thinking about the dishes. The work. The schedule. The text you forgot to answer. The pressure of trying to hold everything together. Sometimes moms carry so much for so long that their souls stop feeling rested… and it quietly begins affecting communication, emotional connection, and even the ability to truly listen.
In this episode, we talk honestly about our struggles with internal noise, striving, exhaustion, and what God has been teaching me through the words:
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
This isn’t about becoming a perfect mom. It’s about returning to Christ in the middle of real life and learning how to anchor in His presence instead of fear, pressure, and overwhelm.
You’ll Learn:
• How internal noise affects communication with your teen• Why stillness is about returning to Christ, not escaping responsibility• The connection between emotional overwhelm and listening• A gentle invitation to slow down and reconnect with God’s presence
If you’ve been feeling emotionally exhausted lately… overwhelmed, internally stretched thin, or struggling to stay connected with your teen through the stress of everyday life, I hope this episode reminds you that you were never meant to carry everything alone.
And mom, if you’re realizing how much the emotional pressure, exhaustion, or communication struggles have been affecting your relationship with your teen… I’d love to support you personally.
Right now, when you book a coaching call with me, I’m offering a second call free. 💛

Why do conversations with teens get tense so fast… especially while driving?
One minute you’re calmly giving instructions. The next, you’re gripping the door handle, correcting everything, emotionally flooded, and wondering why your teen suddenly shuts down.
In Part 2 of this conversation, Terri’s husband, Ed Lee, shares his honest perspective on teaching their teens to drive — including how fear quietly shapes communication, why teens often experience correction differently than parents intend, and what actually helps teens build confidence behind the wheel.
Because sometimes what’s happening in the passenger seat has very little to do with driving… and everything to do with trust, communication skills, and learning how to build connection without controlling every moment.
You’ll Learn:
Why teens often experience correction as criticism or control
How fear and anxiety affect family communication during stressful moments
What helps teens grow in confidence instead of shutting down
A simple communication shift that can reduce tension and build trust
If conversations with your teen have been feeling tense, reactive, disconnected, or emotionally exhausting lately, this episode will encourage you with practical parenting tips and Christ-centered communication tools that can begin changing the tone of your relationship one conversation at a time.
And if you’re realizing there may be deeper communication patterns beneath the tension in your home right now… you don’t have to figure this out alone. 💛
For the next few days through Thursday at midnight, when you book a 1-Hour Communication Breakthrough Call, I’m also including a second coaching call completely free.
Together, we’ll uncover what may really be happening beneath the surface of the conflict, identify communication patterns creating distance, and help you begin building calmer, safer, more connected conversations with your teen through Christ-centered communication tools. You’ll leave with practical next steps, greater clarity, and support for the specific situation you’re walking through right now.
